  • Dragon Boat Training

Dragon boat training is at Patterson Lakes Canoe Club, 10 Launching Way Carrum. Current training sessions are:

    Tuesday evenings - 6 p.m.

    Saturday mornings - 8.00 and 9.30 a.m.

Please register for a Dragon Pass or contact us before your first ‘Come and Try’ session.

  • Gym Training

Training off the water is highly encouraged – and going to the gym is much more fun with friends!

Gym equipment is available for use in our Club House for those members wanting to improve their strength and endurance.

  • On the Day

What will happen when I join a ‘Come and Try’ dragon boat session?

The focus of a ‘Come and Try’ session is to teach the basics and have some fun. We will spend about an hour on the water. Please arrive on time so we can provide you with a paddle and life jacket before the team warm up and safety briefing.

  • What to Bring

What should you bring to a dragon boat paddling session?

Water bottle and close-toed shoes; please do not wear thongs

Wear weather-appropriate clothes you don’t mind getting wet (i.e., a hat and crocs in summer and thermals and shoes in winter).

Towel and a change of dry clothes (we have shower facilities).

Sense of adventure and a positive attitude!

  • Paddle Safety

Safety is our number one priority and all sessions are conducted by experienced coaches with first aid training. Everyone is given a safety briefing before they can take part in their first dragon boat paddle session. We will train regardless of rain (it’s a water sport), however our coaching team will always assess the weather conditions to ensure they are suitable before commencing a paddling session.
